you can go to control panel>add and remove porgram>remove the program. the locked folder and files might still have the lock on them, which prevent you from opening it. if that is not he case, then remove the porgram by all means.
You can lock the files (not the folder) from MS Office software. do a save as…. tools(lower left hand corner)> general option.
